The first annual C.L.I.C. PROJECT Conference
-The CLIC talk series-

CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS
For all ANG students
(at all levels:  programme court, certificat, concentration, majeure)

This year’s conference aims to explore issues relating to CULTURE, LANGUAGE, IDENTITY AND COMMUNITY. Topics which may contribute to this discussion, among others, are suggested here:
·       Your story (as an immigrant, a student/parent, etc.)
·       Your ambitions and/or your struggles
·       Learning a 2nd/3rd/4th language
·       Culture shock
·       LGBTQAI+ issues
·       My changing identity
·       Feminist issues
·       Book club – a book that changed my life
·       Learning English in a French speaking environment
·       Diversity, cultural values, cultural difference, etc.
·       And much more, it’s up to you!

Format of presentations
·       Speech, lecture, motivational discourse, poster session, poetry, group presentation, etc.
·       Duration: 15 minutes (followed by 5 minutes of discussion)
·       Presentations must be in English (We will help you! ☺)
Submission instructions
·       250 words (max.) describing what you would like to speak about.
(font: Times New Roman 12)
·       Proposal in English (Don’t worry about your grammar; the idea is important.)
·       One anonymous version (no names)
·       One version in Word format indicating your full name and contact information

Important Dates:
·       Submission deadline: March 4th, 2019
·       Notification of acceptance: March 11th, 2019

For various reasons, I’ve been a student at UQAM for many years. Although I’ve never been diagnosed, I probably have some version of ADHD or something similar. There’s an H in there, that’s for sure. The C.L.I.C. at work

The C.L.I.C. crew is working hard to organize our next group discussion on the 14th of February. That's right ! We will be sharing and exchanging stories during the international day of love. The First C.L.I.C. Discussion Event: Safe Round Table

Last February 14th, for Love day, about 15 students gathered to discuss and have a conversation about why they left their past lives. While most students spoke about their departure from their home country, the conversation went on several topics surrounding each student's sharing. It was an opportunity for everyone to share parts of their stories and experiences, and at the same time a chance to hear about others, and perhaps, learn new vocabulary.  Moreover, we had some refreshments such as teas, herbal teas and juices and some great home made cookies (by Alizée) to nibble on while actively listening to others. Northern Irish English

😊 You may know the classification of a variety of English called World Englishes. It refers to the different English varieties in different countries or territories. Some students took the course of Language awareness last fall. They were asked to analyze a specific English variety by watching a given TV program. Among them, several students did excellent jobs.  C.L.I.C. will share their reports with you one by one. The first report is about Northern Irish English. CLIC BanQ Outing March 6th - Activity with students and their children

Last March 6th, we organized an activity for the students-parents of the English programs and their children. It was the school break week, so we went to the great library of Montreal, the BanQ,  where we attended various workshops amongst others. We did Lego construction on a tablet, a computer workshop, we did some coloring and other interesting manual and cognitive activities. In total, we were 4 parents accompanied by 6 children. We spent about 2 hours exchanging and discussing in English between parents while children were having a lot of fun in the different workshops. Both the children and the parents enjoyed the activity and they are ready to live the same experience again. Stay tuned for more activities!
